The top academic work dealing with information scent is Peter Pirolli&#039;s &quot;Information Foraging Theory: Adaptive Interaction with Information.&quot; A second key area of study is Mihály Csíkszentmihályi&#039;s work on the psychology of flow. Both of these are more theoretical than practical, however, and many of recommendations I&#039;ve presented here do still need empirical testing. Marti Hearst&#039;s book &quot;Search User Interfaces&quot; is a more hands-on resource.</description>
